Basic understanding

What is the basic architecture of CoreMedia Content Cloud?

CoreMedia Content Cloud is based on a composable DXP architecture. It combines a powerful hybrid headless CMS with tools for content orchestration (CoreMedia KIO) and digital asset management (DAM). The API-based architecture enables seamless integration with best-of-breed systems such as SAP Commerce or Salesforce Commerce.

What does "hybrid headless" mean in the context of CoreMedia?

A headless CMS means that content is delivered via APIs and is not tied to a specific presentation layer. Hybrid means that editors have a visual preview in CoreMedia Studio (in-context editing) and can publish content in the traditional way for specific channels, while the API infrastructure offers maximum flexibility for all other touchpoints.

Implementation & Getting Started

How quickly can CoreMedia be implemented?

With ]init[ as your certified implementation partner, the basic implementation is typically completed within 8 to 12 weeks – depending on the complexity of your integration. This allows you to get up and running quickly.

Does our online editorial team need technical expertise?

No. The user-friendly interface allows marketing teams to manage content on their own. At the same time, technical teams benefit from the flexibility of the headless CMS functionality.

Integration & Compatibility

Does CoreMedia work with existing systems?

Yes. With over 150 pre-built connectors, CoreMedia integrates seamlessly with CRM, e-commerce, and digital asset management systems. Your existing infrastructure remains intact. CoreMedia’s AI, “KIO,” supports data-driven content strategies and AI-powered content optimization. For customers with high IT security and data protection requirements, we can also integrate LLMs hosted on-premises at ]init[ into CoreMedia.

How do I set up integrations with e-commerce platforms or other third-party systems?

CoreMedia offers out-of-the-box connectors for leading e-commerce systems. For custom integrations, the Hubs API (REST/GraphQL) is used to integrate data from third-party systems into the content orchestration platform, or vice versa.

Customization & Development

Can adjustments be made without a deployment?

Yes. As long as the changes are limited to the front end, they can be easily implemented by uploading a theme.

What technologies are used in front-end development?

CoreMedia CMS itself does not specify a particular front-end framework. Content is typically delivered via the delivery layer (e.g., Spring- or Java-based services). The actual front end can be developed using modern technologies such as React, Vue.js, or Angular, which consume CoreMedia’s headless APIs.

How do you create and extend custom content types?

Custom content types are defined using XML structures. This configuration specifies metadata, properties (text fields, images, references, etc.), and the structure. The editorial interface is customized using client-side extensions with TypeScript and the Ext JS framework.

Operation & Deployment

What is the deployment strategy for CoreMedia projects?

CoreMedia projects follow a microservices approach and utilize modern CI/CD pipelines. Components are typically deployed in a container environment (Docker/Kubernetes), which enables high scalability and flexibility in the cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Enterprise features

Is CoreMedia suitable for international companies?

Absolutely. The multi-site management feature and integrated translation workflows are ideal for supporting global companies with locations around the world and multiple languages.

How are multilingualism and multi-site management implemented?

CoreMedia supports scalable multi-site and multi-market management. Content can be created centrally and reused or adapted across different language versions and sites. Translation workflows can be initiated directly through the platform.

Advanced Features

What personalization options does CoreMedia offer?

CoreMedia enables context-driven experiences. By connecting to customer data platforms (CDPs) and utilizing AI-powered personalization engines, content can be delivered in real time based on demographics, location, behavior, or purchase history.

Can I configure SEO settings directly in the CMS?

Yes. In CoreMedia Studio, editors can manage SEO-relevant metadata (title, description, canonical URLs) to ensure optimal search engine optimization.
