RKI: ]init[ prepares research data for the European Health Data Space
The RKI relies on our expertise in standardization and data modeling: Together, we are preparing the MEx metadata model for the European Health Data Space. In this way, we are laying the groundwork for a modern research data landscape.
The Robert Koch Institute’s (RKI) in-house metadata exchange platform, MEx, provides a clear overview of its research activities. It consolidates metadata from numerous primary sources and makes it accessible within a unified structure. This fosters transparency and clarity, and creates a foundation that enables research to benefit healthcare more quickly.
To take advantage of these benefits early on, the RKI wants to link its metadata model to the European HealthDCAT-AP standard now – well ahead of any legal requirement. Together, we are developing the mapping of the models, clarifying technical dependencies, and facilitating coordination with other organizations. At the same time, we are examining which processes can be simplified or automated.
When MEx and HealthDCAT-AP come together with our support, it creates access to a European data space where health data becomes reliable, interoperable, and thus more effectively usable. This strengthens research, accelerates insights, and supports a sustainable healthcare system.
Join us in shaping the digital society of tomorrow!
