PKV Konnektor: Digital Data Exchange for Private Health Insurance Companies

The “PKV-Konnektor” is a gateway for the digital, standardized exchange of data among private health insurers across system boundaries. Our subsidiaries HBSN and xitee have been expanding the platform since 2016, thereby laying the digital foundation for the care of millions of privately insured individuals.

Data Hub for All Private Health Insurance Providers

The PKV Konnektor is the hub for secure data exchange in the private health insurance sector. Insurance companies use it to exchange data with one another, with the Verband der Privaten Krankenversicherung e. V., and with government agencies.

The xitee development team has also developed the platform’s latest addition: the Health Insurance Policyholder Number (KVNR) service. It makes it easy for insurance companies to apply for health insurance policyholder numbers for their policyholders. Staff members at connected insurers upload data via a secure interface; the system automatically verifies this data and forwards the requests to the appropriate authorities. The status of each request can be tracked at any time.

The PKV Konnektor also features state-of-the-art data protection, as the healthcare sector is subject to particularly strict requirements. Every message is encrypted multiple times and transmitted exclusively via secure connections. This level of protection applies uniformly to all services on the platform.

The collaboration between PKV and the teams at HBSN and xitee is agile and based on partnership. Requirements are developed jointly, and solutions are implemented and tested in stages. HBSN manages the project, while xitee develops and tests the software. The next phase of expansion is already on the horizon.
