Relaunch of hamburg.de with CoreMedia CMS
A new beacon in the north: We’ve updated the City of Hamburg’s portal and are giving government agencies a new digital home. Thanks to CoreMedia’s new CMS framework, residents and visitors can find all the information and services they need quickly and easily in one place.
hamburg.de is the go-to source for residents and visitors seeking information about the Senate, municipal services, and cultural and tourist attractions. To ensure that the site remains at the cutting edge of digital innovation with a modern user experience and up-to-date technologies, we carried out a comprehensive relaunch on behalf of the Hamburg Senate Chancellery.
From now on, all users can quickly access all information related to life in the Hanseatic city. Thanks to our focused design, hamburg.de is now even easier to use and serves as a successful example of modern digital government communication.
CoreMedia Update with a Clean, Nordic Design
Our interdisciplinary project team implemented a comprehensive relaunch on CoreMedia 11. As part of this process, we integrated numerous features, such as the new service area. There, visitors can quickly and easily find and use the City of Hamburg’s online services. We also made many improvements for the City of Hamburg’s online editorial team. In addition to more efficient workflows, artificial intelligence is also set to further streamline the editors’ work in the CMS in the future.
Our designers made the website visually clearer and more user-friendly. The fresh design approach, featuring a reduced color palette, clearly structured templates, and intuitive navigation, presents information concisely and guides users quickly to their destination.
Less is more
Our team’s approach to migrating content to the new CoreMedia CMS was guided by one principle: focusing on the essentials so that users feel engaged right away and aren’t overwhelmed by too many features. Accordingly, our content management team used the transition of the first government agencies to the CoreMedia system as an opportunity for a thorough streamlining: pages that were rarely used anymore or content that was no longer up to date were not migrated to the new platform.
One CMS for all
Many other website projects for the City of Hamburg are set to benefit from the new CMS, which we designed as a multi-tenant system. This allows different teams to present their services independently on the same platform.
The completely new and unified information architecture can be rolled out across all Hamburg government agencies, thereby creating a sense of security and trust – no matter which service citizens are using. To achieve this goal, we built the CMS using a modular approach that offers complete flexibility when configuring new websites. This allows government agencies to leverage the centrally provided CMS infrastructure – with all its features – for their own digital offerings.
Hamburg Service and the Hamburg Parliament have already gone live with the new CMS standard. Even after the go-live of hamburg.de, we remain on board and support the editorial teams in continuously developing the new portal.
