World premiere for CoreMedia's AI, KIO Portal relaunch for the DIHK with integrated AI editorial support

The German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) has completely revamped its website in collaboration with ]init[. The CMS upgrade marks the first use of the AI assistant KIO. It streamlines day-to-day editorial processes and helps ensure consistently high-quality content.

The DIHK represents the interests of the business community in Germany and contributes its perspectives to political, economic, and social debates. Ministries, parliaments, associations, media outlets, and companies seek its statements and insights on a daily basis. To ensure these positions have a reliable impact, clearly structured digital communication is essential. With the relaunch on the CoreMedia Content Cloud v12, ]init[, in collaboration with the DIHK, demonstrates how modern information dissemination works: comprehensible, easily accessible, and as technologically advanced as the DIHK’s communication mandate requires.

Why a fresh start was necessary

What once began as a straightforward system had grown into a complex structure over the years. Content was spread across multiple levels, navigation paths were convoluted, and the technology could no longer meet the new demands. The editorial team spent a great deal of time maintaining order while users struggled to find their way. Together with the DIHK, we untangled the overgrown structure and developed a concept that clearly organizes content and makes it more accessible to all target groups.

A complete focus on user experience

To make the website more accessible, our UX consultants started with a simple question: How do people actually navigate through the content, and which paths feel intuitive to them? Through workshops, card sorting exercises, and prototypes, a clear picture emerged. Building on this, the team developed an information architecture that is guided by user needs rather than internal structures.

The new design continues this logic. A clean, accessible layout conveys content clearly and ensures a consistent visual identity. The result is an experience that feels natural and visually reinforces the DIHK’s positioning.

World premiere for CoreMedia KIO

The upgrade to CoreMedia Content Cloud v12 lays the foundation for an information portal that operates more quickly and reliably for both editors and users. Our CoreMedia developers modernized the CMS framework and enhanced it to ensure that content is delivered more reliably and can be maintained more easily internally.

The CoreMedia AI editorial assistant KIO quickly became the focus of our efforts; we implemented it for the very first time in a CoreMedia project. The DIHK is thus the first organization to use KIO in a production environment.

KIO provides us with concrete support in preparing our content for the website – optimized for search engines and formatted in a way that makes it easy to find even in generative search systems. It also helps us efficiently provide content for the English-language site. This significantly reduces the workload for our editorial team, especially when resources are limited.

Project Manager, DIHK

During the content migration, the editorial assistant analyzed content and assisted with its preparation. We integrated KIO in such a way that it fits intuitively into editorial workflows. Content that previously required multiple rounds of revisions could be processed more quickly and with higher quality. Editorial responsibility remained with humans at all times – KIO simply made the work easier. It quickly became apparent how much the assistant lightened the workload and how quickly the migration team could review, structure, and edit content. The DIHK now benefits from this new efficiency and speed in its day-to-day editorial workflows as well.

Hosting in the STACKIT Cloud

The DIHK relies on the robust cloud infrastructure of our cloud partner STACKIT to operate its information portal. Together, ]init[ and STACKIT set up a Kubernetes cluster at the end of 2024 that ensures stability, security, and scalability. The close integration of Alfonso and STACKIT tools creates clear processes for deployment, monitoring, and information security – and thus formed the technical foundation for the successful relaunch to the latest CoreMedia version.

By combining modern CoreMedia CMS technology with STACKIT’s high-performance cloud hosting, ]init[ has made the DIHK’s digital communications future-proof.

The result is a website that showcases ]init[’s ability to deliver. Concept, design, technology, content creation, and operations all come from a single source. Today, the DIHK benefits from a website that is more clearly structured, more accessible, more modern, and easier to maintain.
