Working Together for More IT Security

Modern information technologies do not only offer great opportunities, but also risks. These risks had significant effects on German economy which was hit by numerous incidents of data theft and electronic industrial espionage. For this reason the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has set up the task force “IT Security in Economy”. Central information platform of the task force is the new page www.it-sicherheit-in-der-wirtschaft that was presented by Hans-Joachim Otto, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Minister for Economy and Technology, at the IT security convention “it-sa” in Nuremberg on 12th October 20011.
The website implemented by ]init[ informs small and medium-sized companies on how cloud computing, electronic business, and mobile computing can be made safer. The “IT Security Navigator” mutually developed with Fraunhofer Institut für sichere Informationstechnik (SIT) is the core in this connection. The navigator comprises around 600 information and help services concerning IT security in companies – including initiatives, information centers, check lists, brochures, and events.
