The growing importance of open-source projects in German administration is illustrated by the Competence Center for Open Source Software (CC OSS) with its new communications platform, launched on Linux Day 2010. The central focus of the platform operated by the Federal Department for Administration - Federal Office for Information Technology, is the active exchange of knowledge between authorities which are implementing, have implemented or want to implement open-source projects. The platform with its comprehensive community functions is completely based upon the open source CMS Drupal.
