Starting shot for SOA Bavaria

]init[ commissioned as the general contractor

After a competitive Europe-wide tender ]init[ received the supplement for the development and initial operation of a new IT infrastructure for the Free State of Bavaria based on a service-oriented architecture (SOA). Bavaria creates with this pilot project in the framework of its e-government initiative a future-oriented IT platform in order to offer administrative services of the Free State, the authorities, and further public services electronically bundled to the citizens and economy.

In the ambitious project, already mid of May of 2010 the Enterprise Service Bus will be configured and first the specialized procedures for the fisher qualification test and six further central basic services will be connected. At the same time the Bavarian administration portal www.verwaltung.bayern.de, which bundles many e-government applications of the Free State, will be integrated in the SOA. In the second configuration level, scheduled for beginning of 2011, specialized procedures of different Ministries and further basic services are transferred in the new SOA environment.

“With this flagship project, the Free State lays the foundation for a future-proof and efficient IT environment for current and future e-government projects”, explains Prof. Dr. Manfred Mayer, CIO Management Bavaria, the IT project, “that will significantly reduce the creation time and costs of software development in the Bavarian administration especially due to the multiple usage of the software components.”

]init[ is responsible as a general contractor in cooperation with its suppliers Oracle, Secunet and SUN, for the implementation of this nationwide appreciated project.
