Since today, the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development (German abbr. BMVBS) presents itself in the web with a new offer of information and services. The Berlin based e-government service provider ]init[ is responsible for the realization.

The new portal www.bmvbs.de sets new standards in the government's online communication thanks to active agenda setting. “We are an proactive and energetic department for around 82 million federal citizens. We express this with the focal themes on our home page even better now”, explains Dr. Sebastian Rudolph, head of communications and speaker of the minister, the strategic setting of subjects in the online area. Furthermore, a more target-orientated platform suits the need of information for the different groups of users. Political Messages, specific practical information and a definite range of services for the topics Transport and Mobility, Building and Living as well as City and Country are bundled, clearly processed and up-to-date visualized at the page.

Harald Felling, chairman of ]init[ emphasizes the innovative features of www.bmvbs.de: “The demands for modern online communication of the federal ministry are increasing continuously. The challenges for the BMVBS were complex: the ministry has formulated as straight goal a citizen-friendly, clear and at the same time creative communication. We have reached this among others with a completely new navigation and content attempt, a continuously growing media center with mixed media types in event folders as well as an intensified service orientation.”

Also the technical basis was renewed: ]init[ developed the portal on basis of Government Site Builder 4, the content-management-solution for federal websites, added templates with individual JavaScript and flash elements and migrated more than 5,000 documents from the old web presence.
