Innovative Applications for the Use of the New Identity Card in Open Government Projects

Reichstag in Berlin vor dem Menschen ihre neuen Personalausweise in die Höhe streckenWith the help of different innovative applications we will show you how online participation projects can be more comprehensible and of higher legitimacy with the new identity card (nPA):

Petition platform openPetition
Since August 2011, the petition platform “openPetition” has enabled the signing of petitions with the new identity card. Convince yourself of the additional values that the new identity card provides for online petitions and online participation. Besides, we will illustrate on the basis of openPetition how the technical integration of an eID service works.
]init[ SocialWebSuite with interface for nPA functions

]init[ SocialWebSuite with interface for nPA functions
Exclusively at CeBIT, we will introduce the prototype of an online consultation portal that uses the advantages of up-to-date functions of the new identity card for secure user registration. Using the scenario “Digital Civic Participation in Routes for Power Lines” we will show you the advantages of the electronic identification function for plan approval procedures.

By using the location verification included in the new identity card a plan approval authority can exactly determine the targeted participation group. In this way it is, for example, possible that only citizens affected by a certain infrastructure project or large-scale project are able to participate in the online consultation. To make this scenario possible we have extended ]init[’s SocialWebSuite, our successful dialog and community platform, by one interface for the online identification function.

Discuss with us, how the new identity card can enhance transparency and reliability of online dialogs and according to which criteria groups of participants can be determined target-group-specifically.

Lecture “Open Government with the new Identity Card“
Jörg Mitzlaff, founder and operator of openPetition will illuminate this topic in the Forum Public Sector Parc, on the 9th March, at 2pm.
