With the project named Extrapol the Federal Police Forces and the Federal States created a common platform for the internal communication. The common platform Extrapol connects all Police Forces in Germany allowing every policeman the access to work-relevant information available in the Extranet.

A transnational editorial office feeds the contents. In cooperation with working groups]init[ developed continuative modules for Extrapol in order to generate a “Encyclopedia of the Police Knowledge”. The modern Content Management Technology of ]init[ and a network topology corresponding to the high security demands of the Police laid the foundation for a "one-time generation and multiple-use" of Police Information.

Extrapol is not publicly accessible. The access is exclusively permitted to authorized persons within the German Police Forces.
