In September 2006, the German Bundestag resolved the parental pay, one of the political key topics of Federal Ministry Ursula von der Leyen. The parental pay came into force just at the beginning of the year 2007. All mothers and fathers receive the new parental pay immediately after the birth of the child for a period of time of maximum 14 months. It releases therewith the previous child-raising-benefit. The pivotal question of future mothers and fathers is not if, but how much subsidy are they entitled to. The new online parental pay calculator of Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (German abbr. BMFSFJ) provides the answer.

The (future) parents can comfortably and like a child’s play calculate the individual rate and the approximate amount of the state subsidy in only five steps. The virtual slide rule clarifies the individual advantages of the government support constituting a help on the financial family planning. The parental pay calculator is in great demand and is already one of the most popular online applications of the BMFSFJ. After the releases of the child benefit calculator and the parental leave calculator it is already the third online calculator that ]init[ successfully implemented in cooperation with the BMFSFJ.
